Our Favourite Panini Recipe

Kakda asked for a panini recipe. According to Ms Wiki, Panini is a sandwich made from a small roll or loaf of bread, typically a ciabatta. A ciabatta looks like this:
If you cannot find ciabbata (I think you'll find it in La Boheme bakery, Jusco), you can use french loaf. Next, prepare a creamy b├ęchamel sauce. The ingredients for the sauce :
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heated milk
  • salt
  • white pepper
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons of heavy cream
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and stir until mixture is well blended. Gradually stir in hot milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce begins to boil and thickens. Simmer, stirring frequently, over very low heat for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of heavy cream to the finished sauce.

Cut the ciabatta or french loaf into two and spread the sauce on one side of the bread. Then, spread the tuna. If you like black olives, arrange it on the top of the tuna. The next layer will be mozarella, cheddar cheese and finally, the other side of the bread. If you have a pressed grill, pressed the whole thing for 8-10minutes. Otherwise, heat it in the oven for the same duration of time. Done. Enjoy the panini but be careful, it is hot!
